How has your company changed over the years?
Nationwide has gone from selling insurance policies in Ohio and a handful of states to a Fortune 100 company that offers a full range of insurance and financial services across the country. What hasn’t changed though, Nationwide is still a mutual company that answers to its members.
How do you see your company growing in the future?
Nationwide will keep its members at the center of every decision it makes. They’ll create greater value through its products and services that will keep them around another 100 years. A few keys in creating value are innovation and investments in technology to continue to meet the customers and agencies/advisors where they’re at to make doing business with Nationwide easy and efficient.
Interesting tidbits about your business:
- Nationwide, formerly known as Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, sold its first policy in 1926. This developed out of a group of Ohio farmers not being satisfied with the auto rates being charged in rural areas, compared to the city.

- Nationwide is named #5 on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list.

- Since 2000, the Nationwide Foundation has contributed more than $670 million to nonprofits to help meet critical needs.
