Type of services offered: We bring food, agricultural, financial and industrial products to people who need them all around the world.
Company history:Cargill was founded in 1865 as a single grain warehouse in Iowa, U.S. Since then, we’ve grown to become a global partner connecting people around the planet. But one thing has remained constant over the years: our purpose of nourishing the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way.
How has your company changed over the years? It’s been more than 158 years since growers and sellers started coming together in our first grain warehouse. These days, we connect people around the world, but we keep things local. Only by building trusting relationships with a range of partners can we fulfill our purpose: to nourish the world in a safe, responsible, sustainable way.
How do you see your company growing in the future? Today, the need to make our food system more sustainable and resilient is urgent. From our seat at the center of the agricultural supply chain, we have a unique ability — and responsibility — to help. We’re working with farmers to increase regenerative agriculture and reduce environmental impact. We’re creating everyday earth-friendly items, like feed that reduces methane emissions and waste-based renewable fuels. And we’re harnessing the power of technology, using artificial intelligence to keep animals healthier while making producers more productive.
Interesting tidbits about your business:Cargill is privileged to call Ohio home for several businesses and is investing in the communities we serve and operate. For example, we recently completed upgrades to our Bloomingburg country elevator and are expanding our soybean processing plant in Sidney, which will provide significantly faster and more efficient delivery for farmers and load out for meal customers.
How has OABA helped your business or the agribusiness industry? OABA is an important industry partner for Cargill, providing opportunities to create and strengthen connections with local organizations and other company boards. Through industry and local events we are able to foster new relationships and find ways to work together.
