Passing of OABA Member Stephen G. Peters

StevepetersOABA is saddened to report the passing of Stephen G. Peters on May 18. Steve was a long-time OABA member and a familiar face at events. Please join us in expressing condolences to the family. Steve's obituary is below:

Stephen George Peters, 78, of Findlay, died Monday, May 18, 2020.

He was born June 6, 1941 to the late Virgil and Eleanor (Hopper) Peters in North Baltimore, Ohio. On June 22, 1968, he married Susan Overmyer of Findlay.

He is survived by his wife Susan Overmyer Peters, daughters Monica of Columbus and Erica of Seattle, WA, his son Ryan (Amy) Peters of Columbus with grandchildren Abigail and Ethan, and his brother Doug (Barb) Peters of Findlay.

Steve sold, serviced and designed grain grading equipment throughout the Midwest for 48 years and was an avid collector of toy tractors and farm equipment. He loved his work and met his goal of never retiring. Being extremely sociable, he enjoyed talking to everyone he met, especially about cars, airplanes, astronomy and space travel.

As a lifelong fan of auto racing, was also familiar with every speed trap in Ohio and the surrounding area. He enjoyed nature, especially spring peonies, roses and hummingbirds. Steve read the Bible often, attended Bible studies and the Van Buren United Methodist Church.

As he donated his body to the University of Toledo College of Medicine to train future medical professionals, there will be no funeral service. In respect to the risk to everyone’s health by Covid-19, a memorial service will be planned in the future at a safer time.

If you wish to be informed of the date, please contact the family at StevePetersMemorial@gmail.com.

Memorials can be made in Steve’s memory to your local food bank or homeless shelter.
