OABA Takes Part in D.C. Legislative Fly-In
OABA representatives discuss critical agribusiness topics with national legislators
The Ohio AgriBusiness Association joined other state and national organizations in Washington, D.C. for the National Grain & Feed Association’s 2017 D.C. Fly-In.
President and CEO Chris Henney was joined by two OABA board members: Andy Swerlein of Luckey Farmers, Inc. and Jackie Seibert of United Equity, Inc., as well as Amanda Stacy Hartman of Barrett, Easterday, Cunningham & Eselgroth, LLP. The group met with Ohio Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown and Congressmen Bob Latta, Jim Jordan, Bill Johnson, Bob Gibbs and Reps. Joyce Beatty, Marcia Fudge and Marcy Kaptur’s staff members.
During the visits, the group shared several key issues impacting Ohio agribusinesses. Among other topics, conversations focused on the international trade, transportation infrastructure and regulation reform.
“It is important for OABA to share our members’ interests with our legislators and their staff in Congress,” said Henney. “By traveling to Washington, we show them our commitment to these vital issues and show a united front for Ohio agribusinesses.”
