Central Ohio Farmers Co-op in Waldo, OH

Custom Applicator Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Inc. is seeking a Custom Applicator to work at their Waldo facility.

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Communicate with Agronomist or location manager concerning daily activities
  • Apply dry and liquid fertilizer, chemicals and lime to customer's fields
  • Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility grounds including mowing, spraying weeds and moving snow.
  • Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products.
  • Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure Safety compliance.
  • Maintain & record maintenance of all equipment
  • Record daily application logs.
  • Assist with measure and counting of inventory of dry and liquid fertilizers, NH3, lime, and chemicals.
  • Provide courteous customer service.

Requirements Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and related 3 years’ experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Commercial pesticide applicators license with 1A, 1B, 1C endorsements or able to obtain one. Must have a valid CDL with required endorsements or be able to obtain one and maintain current DOT physical. Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record. This position requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must meet the qualifications set forth in COFC’s motor vehicle safety policy. Failure to meet these qualifications could result in removal from this position.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
