DOT Safety Coordinator

Job Summary 

The DOT Safety Coordinator is responsible for directing efforts to lower the environmental, health, safety, and transportation risks of the company. The position duties include supporting Centerra Co-op’s culture and maintaining safety and governmental regulations. These duties must be achieved all while upholding Centerra Co-op’s mission, goals and values, as well as the goal of zero injuries, incidents, spills and leaks, and to carry out the Co-op’s safety principles. In addition to completing DOT specific tasks at the direction of the Risk Coordinator, the DOT Safety Coordinator assists the Risk Coordinator as needed with everyday safety and compliance assistance, conducting audits and inspections of workplace conditions habits and safety records, working with team members and managers to identify work-place hazards, assisting in updates as needed to written safety and compliance plans, and working closely with Human Resources to communicate and plan onboarding orientation for new employees.

Primary Duties

Skills/Qualifications

CDL endorsement, will train to obtain. Tow motor certification. Valid driver's license. Excellent verbal and listening skills, problem solving skills, strong attention to detail skills, and strong ability to follow-up. The desire to learn new skills and competencies, travel throughout Centerra territory, demonstrating teamwork with all employees, managers and external organizations are critical in this role.

Education/Experience Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.

The applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, strong organizational and problem solving skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask and be a strong communicator, both paper and over the phone, as he/she will frequently deal with customers.
