Ohio Department of Agriculture Opens Weights and Measures Week

State, County Officials Enforce Standards to Protect Consumers

Join the Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David T. Daniels and local county auditors to kick off Ohio Weights and Measures week on March 1 at 8:30 a.m. at the Ohio Department of Agriculture – located at 8995 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.

The department’s Weights and Measures Metrology Laboratory, which is responsible for testing for accuracy in the marketplace, will be open for brief tours. State and county officials – including Franklin County Auditor Clarence Mingo, Licking County Auditor Michael Smith and Fairfield County Auditor Jon Slater, Jr. – will be available for questions.

The Division of Weights and Measures protects all Ohio businesses and consumers. The division works with county and city weights and measures programs to test devices ranging from fuel meters and retail store scanners to vehicle and livestock scales for consistent measuring standards. Ohio administers one of only four National Type Evaluation Program laboratories in the nation, which tests and evaluates new scale designs and technology.
