The Ohio AgriBusiness Association, along with 14 other state and national agricultural organizations, has signed a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives urging the swift enactment of the U.S. Grain Standards Act (USGSA).
First signed into law in 1916, the U.S. Grain Standards Act benefits the entire agricultural value chain.
Congress periodically reauthorizes this legislation to maintain and further enhance America’s Official grain inspection and weighing system. Currently, two provisions of the underlying law are set to expire after December 11, 2020, which could prove disruptive to the official grain inspection and weighing program. S. 4054, which unanimously passed the Senate on November 16, 2020 would reauthorize all expiring provisions of the current law for another five years and includes a number of improvements to the official inspection and weighing system to deliver more transparency, information-sharing and better data.
