Ohio Certified Crop Adviser Program Update
By Tina Lust, Ohio Certified Crop Adviser Chairwoman
To my fellow Certified Crop Advisers:
Harvest is just around the corner, and Ohio may be one of the higher yielding states this year. After hearing tough drought stories from out west, we should be thankful for having harvestable crops. Some areas in Ohio were more fortunate than others on rainfall, and we will see all ranges of yields this year, even in the same field.
Just to update you on a few upcoming events … be sure to visit the 50th Farm Science Review on September 18-20. There will once again be a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) college through which CEUs can be earned. Click here for more information. This should be a great learning opportunity.
Also, if you know of any individual wanting to take the CCA exam, there is a study guide for the ICCA Exam for purchase – click here – that is titled “A CCA Review Manual by the International Plant Nutrition Institute.” To use as a study guide for the Ohio exam (tri-state), click here for a free download of the performance objectives.
The Ohio CCA Board is also pleased to announce the 2013 CCA of the Year Award. Nominations are now being accepted and CCAs can be nominated by a peer, employer or farmer client. The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at the Conservation Tillage Conference in Ada in March 2013, and will receive a plaque, a $1,500 cash award from an agribusiness and industry recognition. Click here for the application, and be sure to nominate a deserving candidate. Last year’s winner was Mike Dailey, an independent consultant from Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
Have a profitable harvest and be safe in your work,
Tina Lust
