EPA SAYS STARLINK TESTING NO LONGER NECESSARY
Asks for Public Input
Reporting that over 99.9% of corn tested in 2006 for the active protein in StarLink corn was negative and that the risk to human health is extremely low, EPA is asking for public comment on a draft white paper that would withdraw FDA guidance for the testing. No StarLink corn has been planted since 2000 when illegal residues of the corn were found in food products. Testing, says the white paper, would provide "no additional human health protection."
