George D. Secor Appointed to the Ohio Agricultural Commodity Advisory Commission

We’re pleased to share that George D. Secor, president and CEO of Sunrise Cooperative, has been appointed to the Ohio Agricultural Commodity Advisory Commission. George’s term begins immediately and runs through Dec. 31, 2016. He completes the term left vacant by Eric Parthemore and will represent farmer-owned cooperatives.

The commission is composed of seven members; three farmers, one licensed handler representing a cooperative, one licensed handler who is the owner operator of a rural warehouse, and one licensed handler representing a major agricultural commodity transportation center and one rural banker. The commission meets a minimum of three times annually and serves to advise and counsel the director on matters relating to the administration of the Ohio Agricultural Commodity Handler Law.

George has a long history in the commodity business. While attending The Ohio State University, he worked for the Ohio Farmers Grain and Supply Cooperative. After graduation, he began working at CountryMark, Inc. before accepting the president and CEO position at Ada Farmers Exchange. In 1996, George accepted the president and CEO position at Country Spring Farmers Co-op, the predecessor of Sunrise Cooperative.

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association congratulates George on this opportunity and we look forward to his continued leadership to Ohio’s grain industry.
