Position Responsibilities
- Become a subject matter expert of products, services, and prices to assist in developing competitive marketing strategies
- Work closely with customers and growers to recommend the proper fertilizer and crop protection products to meet each individual’s needs
- Routinely conducts soil testing and maintain reports
- Responsible for dry, liquid, NH3, lime and chemical inventories
- Maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.
- Conduct sales calls in a professional and courteous manner Essential Duties & Functions
- Communicate with location manager concerning daily activities
- Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility
- Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products
- Operate all equipment & vehicles according to COFC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws
- Ensure Safety compliance
- Provide courteous customer service
- All other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (required):
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-3 years additional Agronomy/seed experience, OR Scouting/intern experience, OR Cooperative work experience, OR Agricultural background
- Extensive knowledge of agronomy
- Experience spraying chemicals
- Ability to provide cost effective services for co-op patrons Ability to work extended hours in-season Good mathematical aptitude
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Commercial Crop Adviser or willing to obtain. Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record. This position requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must meet the qualifications set forth in COFC’s motor vehicle safety policy. Failure to meet these qualifications could result in removal from this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up t60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
