Safety Manager

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op in Marion, OH

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op in Marion, Ohio is hiring a Safety Manager. This position is responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of all safety training, programs, compliance and record keeping. This position will report directly to the CEO.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and promote a culture that ensures all facilities, equipment and personnel adhere to all federal and state safety and compliance regulations
  • Execute both preventative and corrective actions in administering training, monitoring, documenting and record keeping
  • Develop/maintain a comprehensive filing system for documents pertaining to compliance with OSHA
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations
  • Work with management to meet all expected safety goals and objectives
  • Manage safety communication meetings routinely using acceptable criteria
  • Monitor adherence to safety regulations including OSHA laws
  • Coordinate with area managers to ensure proper maintenance of physical property and equipment
  • Develop and execute performance management metrics for the company
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of cost/benefit analysis Inspect each facility regularly and report findings to management
  • Investigate accidents, prepare and maintain required reports. Identify countermeasure to prevent re-occurrence
  • Work with management and employees to identify opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required
  • Display the ability to make good judgments quickly

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Safety Management or other business/agriculture related field of study (6-10 years of related job experience may substitute for education).
  • 5 years of industry experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of industry experience.
  • Previous experience as a Safety & Compliance Manager.
  • Previous agricultural cooperative or agriculture related experience.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, stand, walk, bend and twist.
  • Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be physically and medically capable of wearing a respirator.
  • Good speech, vision and hearing
