Agronomy Sales & Grain/Agronomy Branch Manager

Our team is partnering with a member cooperative in southwestern Iowa to hire an Agronomy and Grain Branch Manager for a hybrid role. This role will bring together branch management, employee development and training and agronomy sales at the customer level.

Co-op Details:

Located in Adair County, north of Creston, Iowa, this multi-branch cooperative is growing and making positive improvements serving customers with quality Ag retail products and customer service. The co-op is customer focused and provides career advancement opportunities.

Position Overview:

This position will be a hybrid role between an Ag Retail Branch Manager & an Agronomy Sales and Customer Service Manager. Combined, this unique opportunity will allow career development as well as skill growth while working at the field-level with growers.

  • 70% of time will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of a productive grain and agronomy facility; including supervising and mentoring employees, leading customer service and maximizing facility productivity.
  • 30% partnering with growers on agronomy needs including chemical and fertilizer recommendations, serving as a trusted partner to growers.
  • Provide friendly, courteous and efficient customer service while exceeding expectations for customer support.
  • Serve as a liaison between suppliers, vendors, distributors to sales staff, management and employees.
  • Achieve satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends. Work with the management team on long-range branch/facility planning as well as annual budgeting.
  • Partner with the Grain Merchandiser to ensure movement of grain and space availability.

Qualifications & Additional Information:

  • Must have at least 4 years’ experience in agronomy and ability to make crop recommendations
  • Ability to work extended hours seasonally & be available after-hours as an emergency contact
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, bend, lift and walk on uneven surfaces
  • A valid, clean driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
  • A hard-working personality, ability to build relationships and outstanding to follow-up are the most imperative to the success of this role.
